April 2011, Kingston, London

Warren House in Kingston-upon-Thames has introduced a new informal and relaxed form of dining for guests and visitors. The Orchid Room, located in the charming and relaxed atmosphere of this 19th century country mansion in Warren Road, is a welcome addition to the existing dining and meetings facilities at Warren House.

With light airy windows looking out on the venue's feature sundial, The Orchid Room provides a welcome relaxed space just off the lounge, in itself a meeting place for many local businesses and visitors. The Orchid Room is open from 9.30am to 9.30pm and Warren House is inviting friends, neighbours and local businesses to drop in and carry on with their conversations over tea, coffee, lunch or dinner.

The menu features fresh dishes using seasonal and local produce, complemented with fruits and herbs grown in the meadow. All the dishes are prepared onsite in the Warren House kitchens.

For The Orchid Room, Paul has prepared a selection of home-made pastries, cakes, muffins and sandwiches, as well as a mouth-watering array of dishes for lunch and dinner which include many Warren House classics. Desserts are just as tempting and foodies can look forward to classic sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, apple pie, ice creams, sorbet and a good selection of French and English cheeses. Dietary requests, as always, can easily be accommodated. The menu includes a selection of wines, while the Warren House wine and beverage list is also available. Booking is not necessary.

The first in the series is double Michelin starred chef, John Campbell. Having recently joined The Dorchester Collection's new hotel, Coworth Park, John is recognised as one of the UK's finest and most celebrated chefs. In 2008, John was honoured with both the Cate's "Chef of the Year" and the "Training and Education" award. John has built himself a reputation for outstanding cuisine. A true master at his art, his cuisine is considered Classic European with an emphasis on flavour, tweaked through scientific techniques. His genius lies in combining complex elements into dishes that look and feel simple and natural. John experiments with the effect that both textures and temperature have on flavour, intensifying tastes to challenge the taste buds. For the inquisitive diner, he pushes the boundaries and delights with unexpected and gastronomic results.

She Experiences: Eric Lanlard, Erin Boag and Anton Du Beck dazzle at Warren House

Warren House September 29, 2010 :The She Experiences Tea Dance held on July 9th 2010 was another resounding success. Organised in conjunction with Tate & Lyle , the day featured master patissier Eric Lanlard and Strictly stars Erin Boag and Anton Du Beck.

During the morning session, Eric Lanlard demonstrated his skill with sugar craft and cup cakes. Eric is a master of the sugar craft. Since arriving in the UK over 18 years ago, this charming Frenchman has changed the face of British patisserie, earning himself a reputation for inspirational cakes and an A-list clientele. His sugar craft creations can be sampled at Cake Boy, a retail emporium in Battersea which includes a “cake lounge” and a high tech cookery school, Cake Boy's Kitchen.

The morning's event was then followed by a marvellous buffet lunch prepared by Warren House Head Chef Paul Bellingham and served on the terraces overlooking the summer gardens. After lunch, the ladies were greeted by Strictly Stars Erin and Anton Du Beck before starting their masterclass dance session.

Erin and Anton showed off their “10” performances as they demonstrated their winning moves on the dance floor. The ladies then had the chance to try out a few routines with Erin and Anton leading them through their paces. As one of the guests present remarked, “The experience is so far greater than what I had previously imagined... from the champagne reception, the demonstrations, the day and the place itself.”

The She Experiences Tea Dance was part of a series of She Experience events for She readers. This was the second time that the Tea Dance was organised at Warren House

She Experiences, Cup Cakes & Strictly Dancing Drama at Warren House May 2010, Kingston, London

Earlier in March, She Magazine organised a She Experience Tea Dance at Warren House. This much awaited event was certainly newsworthy as we all found out on the day.

The afternoon which was organised together with Tate & Lyle as part of the Fair Trade fortnight was to include a cup cake masterclass by Lily Vanilli, followed by a demonstration and workshop with Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton Du Beke and Eric Boag.

Unfortunately, Anton was taken ill that morning and Erin moved in to save the day with a solo performance. She wowed the 80 ladies present with a fox-trot workshop and a Q&A after which she modelled some of her wonderful dresses. It was all so exciting and the event was reported across the national papers throughout the weekend.

The She Experiences Tea Dance was part of a series of She Experience events for She readers. Warren House is pleased to announce that She Magazine will be back in July 2010.

Warren House are Finalists in the National WOW! Awards for Outstanding Customer Service.

Warren House, the award winning 5-star venue in Kingston, London, has been nominated for a national WOW! award for its outstanding customer service given during the Southern Regional Conference for the Academy for Chief Executives (ACE) held earlier on this year during which FW De Klerk, former President of South Africa, was the keynote speaker.

The WOW! Awards event is the only national UK customer service awards programme that is based purely on customer nominations. WOW! is a company that was established in 1997. It promotes high-quality customer service.

Derek Williams, creator of The WOW! Awards and one of Britain's leading customer service and business guru’s explained, “In May 2009, the staff at Warren House were nominated for the WOW! award as a result of their superb handling of the recent ACE conference at which Mr F W De Klerk was the keynote speaker. The whole event was outstanding and a fine example of what Warren House can consistently deliver.”

He continued, “During the conference, many of the delegates present come forward with personal anecdotes as to why Warren House deserved the award … from a last minute baking of extra scones from Head Chef Paul Bellingham in response to a guest request when all scones had run out, to housekeeping remembering minute details of client preferences even when the client had not been at Warren House for quite a while. The decision to confer the award was unanimous. Since then, we have carried out further investigation on their customer service and can confirm that they have been named finalists in the National WOW! Awards Ceremony being held at the Grand Cannaught Rooms in Covent Garden in November. Warren House will compete against other WOW! finalists that include Café Nero, Marriot Hotel York, Monarch Holidays and True Lovers Knot.”

Warren House already enjoys a high rating: it is a 5 star venue set in the exclusive Coombe Estate in Kingston. A 19th century Victorian mansion, it features noteworthy architectural and historical features. Its client list includes blue chip organisations and companies from across the British industries, as well as individuals who use the venue for fine dining, private dinners, celebrations and weddings.

A large number of awards have already been bestowed on Warren House. It has been twice awarded the Johansens “Most Excellent Dedicated Venue Award”. It has also won numerous business awards for its outstanding service and venue facilities including continuous recognition by the South London Business Award for Best in Customer Excellence in 2009, 2008 and 2007; the Seeboard Energy Local Business Awards for Kingston Upon Thames, the Johansens/ Taittinger Wine List of the Year Award in 2005 and The Caterer and Hotel Keeper 21st Catey Award in 2004.

Notes for Editors:

  • Patient Safety: The purpose of this ward is to recognise those that consistently set a high standard of clinical excellence through improvement in systems that result in the reduction of potential harm to patients or help to create and promote a culture of openness, sharing and learning.
  • Innovation: This award is given to an individual or team who has developed and implemented an innovative idea in medicine, technology, education or finance with the proven potential to make a significant contribution or change to improving efficiency, cost reduction, technology or changes in practice.

Warren House Hosts Academy for Chief Executives and Keynote Speaker WF De Klerk

Warren House was the venue for this year’s Southern Regional Conference for the Academy for Chief Executives (ACE), a historic event for members and guests alike. The conference featured FW De Klerk, former South African President and a key player in that country’s transition from Apartheid as the keynote speaker and a packed agenda focussed on marketing and networking.

Warren House, Kingston; June 2009: This year’s Regional ACE Conference was held in May and was well attended by representatives from seven groups across the southern UK region. The central theme for the day was Network for Networth, and the line up of speakers was as impressive as the venue itself.

The Conference was opened by Academy Chair Joe Adams, who introduced the theme for the day - networking and marketing. The keynote speaker, FW De Klerk, needed little introduction.

Mr De Klerk spoke about Leadership in Difficult Times, focusing on the speed of change as the biggest challenge facing mankind.  He said that every species on the planet survives through an ability to adapt to change and our survival will be determined by the same factor.  Once we had accepted the need to change, there was a need for us to create a clear vision for how we will do so.

He added that having accepted we have to change, we must avoid just pretending to change.  In deciding to change, we have committed ourselves and must constantly undertake self-examination, take value based decisions and calculated risks, persevere and accept that change is a never ending process. He followed this speech with a Q&A session, answering with humour, honesty and integrity. Supporting Mr FW De Klerk were guest speakers Neil Poynter from MC-Cubed Ltd; Andy Lopata, a leading business networking strategist; Grenville Burn of The Mikado Experience; Rob Brown, Personal Marketing Expert; Simon Ricketts from Contact Worldwide Ltd; Daniel Bastide from Thomas Eggar and Fred Edwards from MyFD who conducted plenary sessions throughout the day. Academy members Simon Lester, Academy Chair Group 7; Damon Segal from AGI; Julian Enoizi from CNA Insurance Company Ltd and Philip Shipperlee of Performative plc facilitated expert workshops and practical sessions.

ACE Managing Director Mike Burnage brought the day’s proceedings to a close after which the group relaxed over wine and canapés in the luxurious surroundings of Warren House.

This year’s conference provided ample time for networking, showcasing of members businesses and sharing of best practice ideas. The Persian Room, serving as the main break out room, featured an exhibition comprising of suppliers services and products, while the well appointed function room, reception rooms and magnificent Versailles-styled Mirrored Ballroom were hosts to over 135 participants.

Overall, participants felt that this year’s conference proved to be “an excellent day” with “nuggets to take away”. “FW De Klerk was inspiring” and in the words of many, the day “was quite simply outstanding,” as recounted by attendees at the event.

This year’s regional Academy meeting was organised by a select committee of Academy members, led by Chair Joe Adams. They included Carolyn Henderson, General Manager at Warren House, Damon Segal, Managing Director of AGI and Richard Brooman, Vice Chairman of Group 11 and Vice Chairman of Invesco Perpetual Investment Trust. Together, they organised a conference programme that was varied enough to appeal to the diverse audience within the Academy.

Warren House Collects over a £1000 for the Daisy Garland Charity - May 11th 2009

When the Warren House staff members set off on their 10-mile track to the peak of Snowdon on Bank Holiday Monday May 4th 2009 at 6.30am, the weather was certainly not in their favour.

It was cold and wet and even snowed at times during the day. However, not even the weather could dampen the enthusiasm and fine spirits of the Warren House Challenge Team, led by Head Chef Paul Bellingham.

Their chosen route led them up the Miners Track, returning by the PYG's Track. The team had been training since the start of this year, building up muscle and stamina. They spent weekends carrying out organised walks in Surrey and the surrounding areas. And it has paid off!

The sponsored walk was to raise money for the staff's favourite children'ss charity, the Daisy Garland Charity. Friends and guests of Warren House and The Hammersley Connection, the Warren House exclusive members club, as well as local businesses and colleagues all assisted in the bid to raise funds. The Challenge Team has in fact managed to raise over a £1000, hitting well above their initial target amount of £600.

Donations are still coming in and a cheque for the final amount will be presented to the Daisy Garland Charity in the coming weeks.

This time last year during RSVP 2008, Warren House launched The Hammersley Connection. A year later, it is a story of success, with an active membership list, an exciting events calendar that is well attended by members from and around Kingston and an extension of the concept to the business community.

The Hammersley Connection is a private members’ club that was set up to extend the renowned Warren House hospitality and provide members with access to exclusive benefits and privileges. Membership to The Hammersley Business Connection is complimentary and by invitation.

Since its launch at RSVP last year, The Hammersley Connection has recruited over 200 high net worth active members from and around Kingston. Within the overall programme, ambassadors organise regular events that extend this member base while still retaining the Warren House and The Hammersley Connection brand and values.

Managed and coordinated by a dedicated membership team, these events cover international designer fashion shows, launches of hand crafted designer jewellery, wine and cheese tastings, artistic events, operatic and gourmet dinners and fund raising for charities.

Members’ privileges include having access to password protected pages on the website where they can browse the events calendar and exclusive member offers, use the online booking and payment facilities, download the newsletter and view a photo gallery of past events.

The Hammersley Business Connection

Late in Autumn 2008, Warren House extended the concept and introduced The Hammersley Business Connection to its corporate customer base through professional activities, networking and the launch of a targeted newsletter. Membership is also complimentary and by invitation. The Hammersley Business Connection is similarly represented online on the Warren House website and features partners in training and development.

The Hammersley Business Connection is a natural extension to the leisure events and activities organised through The Hammersley Connection and Warren House Conference and Training Facilities. Its dedicated team manages a calendar of training, development and forums on current topics. This is in conjunction with the networking activities, which Warren House organises on a regular basis. Partners and corporate customers are now using the programme of activities to extend corporate hospitality to their own clients.

As Carolyn Henderson, Warren House General Manager, said, “The Hammersley Connection has allowed us to get closer to our clients. Through our activities, newsletters and regular communications we are talking and listening to clients, guests and friends and adapting our service to make sure that we add value in any way we can.”

Warren House; April 2009: Once again, Warren House is shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Business for Marketing award, which is part of the RBS South London Business Awards 2009. This is the third time that Warren House has participated in these prestigious awards. It was shortlisted for the final heats every time and last year, successfully won the coveted SLB Best Business for Customer Excellence.

This year, Warren House is participating with The Hammersley Business Connection, a private members’ club and business community that was set up to extend the renowned Warren House hospitality and provide members with access to exclusive benefits and privileges. Through The Hammersley Connection Leisure and the Hammersley Business Connection, Warren House is expanding its activities with its clients and also within the business community in and around Kingston.

The Hammersley Connection

Since its launch in Spring 2008, The Hammersley Connection (Leisure) has recruited over 200 high net worth active members from and around Kingston. Within the overall programme, ambassadors organise regular events that are extending this base while still retaining the Warren House and Hammersley Connection brand and values.

These events include international designer fashion shows, launches of hand crafted designer jewellery, operatic and gourmet dinners and fund raising for charities. Members have access to password protected pages on the website where they can browse the events calendar, use the online booking and payment facilities, download the newsletter and view member benefits and a photo gallery of past events.

The Hammersley Business Connection

Late in Autumn 2008, Warren House introduced The Hammersley Business Connection to its corporate customer base through professional activities, networking and the launch of a targeted newsletter. Membership to The Hammersley Business Connection is complimentary and by invitation. The Hammersley Business Connection is also represented online on the Warren House website and features partners in training and development.

The Hammersley Business Connection is a natural extension to the leisure events and activities organised through The Hammersley Connection and the Warren House Conference and Training Facilities. It has a dedicated membership team to manage a calendar of training, development and forums on current topics. This is in conjunction with the networking activities, which Warren House organises on a regular basis.

Partners and corporate customers are now using the programme of activities to extend corporate hospitality to their own clients.

Helen Bull, Warren House Sales Manager, commented that “We believe that in this economic climate, our efforts in hosting networking events, forging partnerships and instigating joined up thinking will create opportunities.”
The winners of The RBS South London Business Awards will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner and ceremony to be held on 20th May 2009 at Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace Football Club. The prestigious award scheme is masterminded by South London Business and sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland. Other sponsors include Ixion Holdings, Tentacle Design, and Thackray Williams LLP, with Newsquest South London as the media partner.
This is not the first time that Warren House has been recognised for its outstanding service and venue facilities. It has twice been recognised as the Johansens “Most Excellent Dedicated Venue Award” and has also won numerous business awards including the South London Business award for Best in Customer Excellence; the Seeboard Energy Local Business Awards for Kingston Upon Thames, the Johansens/Taittinger Wine List of the Year Award in 2005 and The Caterer and Hotel Keeper 21st Catey Award in 2004.

Carolyn Henderson, Warren House General Manager, added: “Both The Hammersley Business Connection and The Hammersley Connection demonstrate our continued support and commitment to all our clients, whether they are corporate, large or small businesses. We value the support of our clients, friends and guests and are continuously looking for innovative ways to extend our value as an organisation.”

Once again, Warren House beats competition to walk away with the 2008 South London Business Award for Customer Service.

Warren House; May 2008: The best businesses in South London were celebrated earlier on this year in May at the Crystal Palace Football Club's grounds. During the evening, business leaders were recognised for their achievements in an Oscars’ style ceremony, hosted by LBC radio's James Max. It came as no surprise that Warren House was awarded the Customer Service Award - sponsored by NatWest.

This is not the first time that Warren House has been recognised for its outstanding service and venue facilities. It has twice been recognised as the Johansens “Most Excellent Dedicated Venue Award” and has also won numerous business awards including the Seeboard Energy Local Business Awards for Kingston Upon Thames, the Johansens/Taittinger Wine List of the Year Award in 2005 and The Caterer and Hotel Keeper 21st Catey Award in 2004.

As Carolyn Henderson, General Manager said: “It is all down to the fantastic team I lead here at Warren House. They are outstanding in their dedication and I am so proud that Warren House continues to keep and surpass its own standards by regularly winning such prestigious awards.”

Warren House Launches The Hammersley Connection, An Exclusive Club For Friends And Guests

After successfully winning the Johansens “Most Excellent Dedicated Venue” in 2007 for the second time, Carolyn Henderson, General Manager, and her team at Warren House are now extending their exquisite hospitality and superb service through an exclusive, invitation only, community called The Hammersley Connection.

Through membership of this high-end and most exclusive private club, friends and guests of Warren House will be invited to become complementary members of The Hammersley Connection during the spring and summer of 2008. The club has been set up to provide outstanding benefits and privileges, in addition to the superb service which has already earned Warren House many international accolades. It also allows members to participate in a busy calendar of events and activities taking place at Warren House.

Carolyn is proud of what her team has achieved. “Over the years, many friends and guests have availed themselves of our wonderful facilities and amenities at Warren House, whether they were here on conferences, meetings or attending private events such as weddings and anniversary celebrations. We believe in going many steps further than any of our guests expect. We decided that we wanted to recognise our esteemed guests and also reward them for their loyalty to Warren House. Hence The Hammersley Connection, our special way of saying: How lovely to see you again!”

The Hammersley-Royal Connection

Warren House is a grade II listed building and an exquisite five star venue. It is a haven in what has long been considered one of the wealthiest and most exclusive: Coombe Estate, in the Royal Borough of Kingston. Warren House is close to mainline stations and transportation links, placing it within easy reach of central London.

In the early 1900s it was often visited by royalty, enjoying the delights of what was and still is considered “one of the glories of Kingston”. Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, George V and Queen Mary, often stayed at Warren House on private visits. King Edward’s bedroom is still there, along with a ballroom modelled on the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Today, it is a fine country mansion with a history and tradition of fine dining, relaxed quality time and the warmest welcome you can imagine.

In fact it is the perfect setting for the continuation of a fine tradition through The Hammersley Connection.
